Lonnie Holley at Meta Burlingame Campus
Artist Lonnie Holley has three pieces at the Meta Burlingame campus, each made from steel and weighing 300 pounds. He was born in 1950 in Birmingham, Alabama. Many of his sculptures use “found materials in the oldest tradition of African-American sculpture” (Holley). He has been profiled in The New York Times and his work is in the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian, and the National Gallery of Art, and on permanent display at the United Nations.
